Again we get a new update this week giving us more features to use. Personally not that happy with the old OS saga that took place a few months ago but at least Sony do seem to be trying to win us back! Heres whats new ( taken from US BLOG PS):

The latest Playstation 3 Firmware has arrived adding a couple of new features and a few enhancements for both the console and for the Playstation Network.

* PlayStation Plus: PlayStation Network users will be able to purchase membership to PlayStation Plus; a new subscription service on the PlayStation Network that provides you with new options to expand and enhance your gaming experience and enable you to gain an exclusive set of features and content. Friendly reminder, all of you PlayStation Network users will continue to have free access to PlayStation Network’s unmatched and expanding suite of new and exclusive features while PlayStation Plus subscribers will gain access to an exclusive and expanding set of gaming features, content and functionality.
* Photo Gallery: A new network based photo sharing feature is now available on the Photo Gallery. The enhancement allows you to upload, browse and comment on photos on Facebook and Picasa Web Album. You can also opt to share your photos between your PlayStation Network friends as well as print photos from Photo Gallery.
* Video Editor & Uploader: Video Editor and Uploader is a new function found on the XrossMediaBar (XMB), which enables you to edit, save and upload video files stored on the PS3 system to sites such as Facebook or YouTube.

Insomniac today detailed the forthcoming Aftermath map pack and the large 1.50 patch so without further ado here it is:

The DLC comes in two forms: new competitive multiplayer maps and character skins. The Aftermath Map Pack features three new battlefields, two set in Twin Falls (Aftermath and Pit Stop) and another in Orick (Outpost). All of the maps support 20-player Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, while Outpost also lets you play 20-player Core Control. The Aftermath Map Pack will be available for download through the PlayStation Store for 3.99.

We also have six new competitive multiplayer character skins. In addition to our usual band of brothers (of the human, Cloven, and Chimeran variety), we even have two selections for our female R2 players. You can download the following skins through the PlayStation Store for 0.69 each: Rachael Parker, Female Soldier, Ravager, Cloven (Retribution model), Ranger Variation, and Black Ops Variation.

Then we have patch 1.50, or what some on the MyResistance.net forums have been calling the “the big patch.” And it definitely lives up to that nickname—it’s quite substantial. Once you install the patch (the download prompt will come up automatically once you start R2), you’ll now be treated to:

Meltdown Mode: We’ve read the message-board comments. We’ve seen the online petition. You want it? You got it! Patch 1.50 brings back Meltdown, the popular Resistance: Fall of Man multiplayer mode in which each team attempts to gain control of the map by capturing beacons.

Superhuman Co-op Mode: Does your eight-man Specter squad possess the skills to survive this all-new difficulty? It features stronger enemies and disables auto-respawning (only another squadmate can revive you), but dishes out bigger rewards (double the Grey Tech and XP per round).

Second PSN Login Support: Your fellow couch potato can now save their character’s multiplayer progress, thanks to the added option to log in with two unique PSN accounts.

But that’s really just the beginning of patch 1.50’s offerings:

XP balance adjustments for competitive mode
Announcements screen
Failsafe save support
Password protected custom games
Added ability to “Report” player
Teams switch sides between Core Control rounds
Players now automatically go to staging after every competitive or cooperative game (regame)
Localization updates
Various stat fixes
Collision fixes on Bryce Canyon and Holar Tower cooperative levels
New leaderboards
Map fixes for competitive Chicago level
Games with Friends and Clan members in them are now highlighted in the “Find Game” screen
Limited late joining has been added to ranked games
Deathmatch spawning has been improved
Players can’t earn progress towards Berserks when they are dead
Reduced sprint speed of core carrier in Core Control games
Cooperative XP bonuses have been increased by 30%
Cooperative games respawn time is now 20 seconds
Players keep their grenades if they get revived in a cooperative game
Players now have a “Join Game” option for players on their friends list
A player’s own name is now in white in the obituary text

As you probly have guessed by now, i am absolutly mutting over Killzone 2.  3 days, woooohooooooo!!!  Roll on.

Most looking forward to the multiplayer on the game and the badge system is looking soooooweeeeeet!  A bit like Perks if youve played COD, but looking far cooler and more individual to suit you!

Watch these videos to see what i mean where developers talk you through the various options available.

Shotgun with speedboost and turrets is the way im going to go i think, how bout you?

Well not quite, as I’m sure you can see the calender.  But for the first time in ages i feel really really exited.  i can hardly sleep as the day approaches and my palms are already sweating.  What the blazers am i going on about i hear you ask, well fool Killzone 2 is nearly here!!!

The more i read on it and the more grainy vids i watch on YouTube the more blood builds up in my…. well, u can only guess where.

If you haven’t gone over to the Killzone2 website yet then what are you waiting for?  More info than you can shake your left arm at and even more reason to get all hot and sweaty.  Loving the idea of Valour where as a clan you earn points to gamble on and enter tournaments with, to get even more points and ultimate GEEK status.  Believe me ill be there and hopefully leading the charge with the Enjoy-PS3 Crew and getting us high up on the leader-boards.

Here’s a bit of news for y’all, 2 Streetfighter characters T-Hawk and Dee-Jay from Streetfighter 2 turbo didn’t make the cut for Streetfighter 4. The games producer Yoshinori Ono says characters models for both combatants were created but never finished. However, Ono has said if enough fans were interested in regards to the characters Capcom may release them as downloadable content. So if ya are a fan shout up and be heard - holler da enjoy team!

As we reported early this week E.A. are hard at work on Home.  Among a list of over 20 developers the super giant E.A. are slowly releasing information regarding there first dip into Playstations answer to secondlife.

http://www.blogcdn.com/playstation.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/eahome-ea-sports-complex---screen.jpg

There first revelation came at CES when they revealed that they are working on it and a few videos started flying around the net.

Now confirmed the E.A. space will bring a whole heap of gaming goodness which will all be free!! Yeah free, looks like E.A. have milked us enough and are finally giving us something back.  The only price players will have to pay is some exposure to EA Sports advertisements that appear on the billboards and posters in the virtual world.  NICE!

It will bring Poker, golf and a racing game and is said to hold up to 50 people at once.

Take a tour of the upcoming EA Sports Complex for PlayStation Home. Tour Guide: EA Senior Producer Robert Burnett. From CES 2009
